Smart SKILLcard

Good to read in November’s RAC Magazine and online that the Engineering Services SKILLcard, which is used by over 50,000 mechanical professionals, including air conditioning engineers has gone ‘smart’.

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) SKILLcard is used as a means of providing proof of relevant qualifications and skills to access project construction sites, in line with Health & Safety legislation.

The air conditioning industry is heavily regulated, however not easily policed. We welcome the new chip-enabled smart cards which will be much harder to fake than their old-style counterparts. This will hopefully lead to a reduction in rogue and fraudulent operatives and drive up standards across the industry.

Clients will be able to access and check a holder’s skills online and information can be kept up to date, reliable and secure. Clients will be better served and sites safer.

Cards are currently being phased in via the SKILLcard website. As far as we’re concerned it’s a very smart move.

Advantage Air Systems has been operating in the air conditioning industry for over 20 years. We are committed to maintaining the highest possible standards of Health & Safety and as members of Refcom Elite, you can be sure that we work to strict industry Codes of Practice and in compliance with all current legislation regarding the safe handling, containment and disposal of refrigerant.
