Last month saw the announcement from Mitsubishi Electric of its plans to launch its first R32 refrigerant based VRF air conditioning systems. Eagerly anticipated, the R32 VRF air conditioning range has been designed to support the cooling and heating needs of small commercial offices and retail spaces.
Current VRF air conditioning systems utilise R410A refrigerant but as the industry transitions towards lower GWP alternatives, the UK launch of Mitsubishi Electric’s R32 City Multi YNW range marks the first use of this refrigerant in a VRF system. The new City Multi YNW, in both heat recovery and heat pump versions, will be available to specify from this month, with units in stock from January 2020.
The mild flammability of R32, means its application in larger VRF systems is restricted. However, the new range comes in unit sizes from 22kW to 34kW, suitable for small commercial and retail applications.
Compatible with R32 splits and/or Mitsubishi’s R32 Hybrid VRF system allows customers to use one single lower GWP refrigerant across an entire building.
Mark Grayston, head of Mitsubishi Electric’s product marketing department, said:
