What We Did

Situated up in the eaves, and positioned on the south side of the house, this bedroom would always be at risk of overheating during the summer months.

Following a site survey and having completed the necessary detailed cooling load calculations, this was confirmed to be the case. Additionally, being a relatively small room, with minimal wall space, providing a standard wall mounted system would not have been practical. A concealed ducted system also proved untenable due to limited loft space.

The client was keen for as seamless a solution as possible and so we specified an air conditioning system that could be fitted underneath a built-in desk in the bedroom. The concealed floor mounted indoor unit from Daikin was installed and the top of the desk neatly modified to incorporate a linear grille to provide the necessary air flow. The indoor unit was linked via pipework to the outdoor unit at ground level conveniently hidden behind garden shrubs.

The system benefits from using the latest new R32 refrigerant which is highly energy efficient. It also includes Daikin’s premium Madoka wall mounted remote controller, allowing for user friendly adjustment of temperature set point, fan speed and manual on/off controls. Plus, a Wi-Fi interface enabling control and monitoring via an online and mobile app.

The new system was installed in a couple of days and the customer was delighted:
