What We Did

Due to the amount of glazing, orangeries, like conservatories, are infamously boiling hot in summer and freezing cold in winter. However, it is possible to create a comfortable space all year round. Modern air conditioning systems do the job very well, being able to both heat and cool a space very efficiently.

Following a full site survey, the necessary heating and cooling loads were calculated and a 6 kW Concealed Floor Standing unit from Daikin was selected as the most suitable system for the application. The system specified utilises the latest R32 refrigerant which benefits from a lower GWP and superior energy efficiencies.

Daikin’s premium Madoka wall mounted remote controller was included, allowing for user friendly adjustment of temperature set point, fan speed and manual on/off controls. Plus, a Wi-Fi interface enabling control and monitoring via an online and mobile app.

As the client was looking for a discreet solution, we were able to cleverly refashion a window seat utilising the space beneath. We modified the cabinet to suit, considering maintenance access while doing so. The window sill was extended to match the edge profile perfectly. A brushed brass custom linear grill was installed for the conditioned air to enter the room.

The client was delighted with the works. We not only provided a seamless solution for their beautiful Orangery but a practical one too. The space can now be comfortably enjoyed whatever the weather!
