This year the Advantage team headed out to Tulleys Escape Rooms in Crawley. We arrived full of excitement and enthusiasm. Only a couple of the team had experience of an escape room (and on that occasion it hadn’t exactly gone to plan!), but surely it couldn’t be that hard? It does say ‘challenging’ but we’re all quite bright, right? Plus, there are 7 of us…
At Advantage, we think we work well as a team, but it would be an interesting exercise. We have all seen The Apprentice! Escape rooms are designed for logical and lateral thinking. How best to work the group to get the job done in time? The clock is ticking, tick tock, tick tock!
Our chosen game was The Outfitters. Set in 1926 Chicago during the Depression. The Mob are in charge with most of the cops under their influence. Despite 6 years of the Prohibition everyone still drinks. We are a special task force of straight, trusted cops, challenged with getting the evidence necessary to put these bent cops away forever.
Tick tock, tick tock, we thought we were doing quite well but an hour isn’t really that long is it? New doors kept opening, clues ever more challenging…oh no……out of time! I guess that’s a fail!
We stumbled out the room wondering where we had gone wrong, but we were assured we had worked well together and cracked ‘a lot of it’. I guess more practice required. Next time!
With the escape room failed, rather than nailed, we had definitely worked up an appetite. Now time for the festivities to begin. We headed over to Brewhouse & Kitchen in Horsham where a Christmas feast awaited us. Equipped with its own micro brewery, the party was off to a flying start!
