What We Did

The old flint barn consisted of two cellular offices and a large open plan area on one level and a third office space on the upper floor, all served by underfloor heating. However, with the recent increasingly hot summers, the barn had a tendency to overheat and a cooling solution was now required to ensure a comfortable working environment.

Following a comprehensive site survey and detailed cooling load calculations, Advantage specified air conditioning equipment from manufacturer, Daikin, utilising the latest lower GWP R32 refrigerant.

Units from the Daikin Stylish range were selected not only for their A+++ rated energy efficiency and performance but their aesthetic appeal. Sleek and modern, they provided an attractive contrast between the old and the new.

A multi split was installed in the three offices, each with built in wifi, allowing for individual control via a standard infrared remote and mobile app.  A twin split was chosen to serve the large open plan area with shared controls.

Additionally, the two outdoor units were spray painted dark brown to blend in with the rural surroundings of the barn.

Given the energy efficiency of the system, although the installation was predominantly for cooling the building, the client has the added benefit of being able to run the systems in heating in winter should they wish to.
